Actor John Abraham and director Nishikant Kamat have been friends for years but the two will go head to head on screen in the upcoming Rocky Handsome. The film, set in Goa, Mumbai, Pune and Seychelles, traces the journey of a man who goes on a rampage when the only person he cares about (a little girl) is kidnapped. Nishikant, who has directed the action thriller, also plays the antagonist — a Goan ganglord, Kevin Pereira. Whilst Shruti Hassan plays as Rocky’s wife, Rukshida.
Talking about his friend, director and now co-actor’s look and performance, John Abraham says, “When I learnt that Nishi would play the villain, I was quite excited. When I saw him getting out of his vanity van on the day of the shoot, sporting a baldpate and suit, I thought he looked mean. You need a strong bad guy to stand up against Rocky Handsome and he is the man to watch out for.”
Sunny Bawra, Inder Bawra, Ankit Tiwari composed the music in Rocky Handsome. The movie definitely has its’ unique songs which have become chart-toppers, including Rehnuma and from one of my favourite music duo’s in my early days: Bombay Rockers who featured their hit Rock Tha Party. The song features Nora Fatehi, who gave the song her own twist in the action-thriller. Bombay Rockers re-recorded the song specifically for the film. Navtej Singh Rehal, a member of the band, says, “I’ve been a huge fan of John, so it feels great to have re-recorded our super hit song for his film. We are elated that this was the first track to have been launched for the film.” Catch the making below…
Rocky Handsome has grossed ₹7.60 crore (US$1.1 million) in one day including paid previews in India; so far a great response. The film released in UK cinemas yesterday, so don’t John Abraham’s action-packed Rocky Handsome!
