#LFW2016 Highlights: Day 1

India’s biggest fashion week bonanza, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort ’16 took place recently. For those are new to this fashion week, LFW is organized twice every year. LFW born with a vision to “redefine the future of fashion and integrate India into the global fashion world”. We take you through our highlights of day 1!

Architect and designer, Pinakin Patel started his career in creating furniture. But with his keen interests in fashion and styling, Pinakin launched his line of distinct womenswear, which is best described as Pinakin’s own aesthetic of ‘India Modern’, which he had definitely executed at LFW, where his exquisite pieces nodded to both modernity and tradition.

We have followed the QuirkBox for the last few years and are a fan of the fashion label still today! Quirkbox’s SS16 collection stuck to their with signature method of print designs, but with a Parisian influence.

Sahil Kochhar

In 2006 Sahil graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. After graduating he worked with talented fashion designer Rohit Bal, where he handled design for over 6 years and with the encouragement from Rohit Bal, he started his own label in 2012. Sahil Kochhar’s SS16 collection entailed beautiful floral embroidery and distinct use of shapes.
Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhry

Yogesh Chaudhary was chef at heart and a designer by profession; during his masters at NID in 2010 he won his first award as ‘Emerging Designer’ at the Van Heusen Men’s Week. After 2011 he launched his label Surendri, which translates as being beautiful. The brand’s forte normally lies in its’ mélange of patterns and draping. Yogesh’s SS16 collection truly showcased his speciality in mélange of patterns with mosaic style designs in a spectrum of blue hues.
