Guest Iin London Review: Slapstick Comedy, A Ghazal About Flatulence And More… You Will Be Giggling In Your Seats!

Similarly to the previous film Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Chacha Ji and Chachi Ji force themselves as guests in London on Aaryan, who at the same time happens to be staging a fake marriage with Anaya to get permanent UK citizenship. Chacha Ji and Chachi Ji get up to many antics and over stay their welcome, as a result Aaryan and Anaya lose their patience and finds ways for them to leave.

Chacha Ji played by Paresh Rawal was hilarious, he has kept the same character and personality as he was in Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge and it is double trouble when Chachi Ji played by Tanvi Azmi is added into the mix. Both characters bounce off each other very well. Aaryan and Anaya played by Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Kharbanda, both have likeable characters and play their roles quite well. But Paresh and Tanvi slightly steal the limelight in the movie.

The film is directed by Ashwni Dhir, who kicks start the movie with comedy and keeps it going from the start to the end.  Despite the whole film being filmed in London, he still kept it filmi and in alignment of Bollywood’s style with slapstick and cheesy humour. One notable epic scene for me was when Paresh Rawal’s character recites a ghazal about flatulence! One negative for me was despite the film being over 2 hours long, it was extremely fast paced, which made it feel a bit unrealistic at times.

Guest Iin London definitely plucked on my heart strings near the end and you do grow a fond liking to Chacha ji and Chachi ji through the film, which contributes to a very emotional climax. But other than that the remains comical throughout and you will be laughing out loud!

Raghav Sachar and Amit Mishra composed quite upbeat songs for the film, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but the notable ones for me were Daru Vich Pyaar, Tu Sona Nachdi and Dil Mera. A majority the songs had relevance to the film, as it helped personify some of the story lines in the movie. Overall this is a light-hearted family comedy, which will have you giggling in your seat! I don’t want to reveal too much, but there is also some guest appearances too!

Guest Iin London in now in selected UK cinemas.
