Sunday 8th January saw the return of the Aashni + Co Wedding Show at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London, the ultimate South Asian bridal event of the year on London! Spotlighting the latest bridal, occasion wear and couture collections from the top tier of the Indian and Pakistani design spectrum including Anamika Khanna, Anushree Reddy, Elan, Gaurav Gupta, Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani, Monisha Jaising, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Jade by Monica and Karishma and ASAL by Abu Sandeep. We share our highlights from the prestigious wedding show…
One thing we most definitely look forward to in every wedding show is the showstopper masterpiece Zita Elze pulls together, where this year they opted for an earthy mystical wood theme with the use of fruit orchards. Beautiful right?
Anushree Reddy
Ansuhree Reddy blew us away as usual with her collections fit for a princess! She bought back some of her staple classic pieces with her original floral zest. There was one particular lehenga piece, which had taken us aback in the video below, absolutely stunning!
Anushree shares her bridal advice with us…
Sabyasachi
Sabyasachi came to the show with a special surprise of his strong #shoegame and #baggame collaboration with Christian Louboutin! Sabyasachi’s Firdaus collection was showcased in UK for the first time, firdaus translates as the highest garden in paradise. A great deal of craftmanship was put in the ‘modern day heirloom’ pieces, such as dip-dyed brocades, vegetable-dyed silk floss and many many working hours.
Tarun Tahiliani
Tarun Tahiliani’s latest collection had his elaborate signature touches combined with warm and dark colours of green, black and deep creams all complimented with gold embellishments and embroidery.
Akanksha Gajria
Akanksha Gajria is a new favourite of ours, it’s fun, playful and has unique persona, no two pieces looks the same. We loved the use of pop and pastel colours sparkling with mirror work, frilly nets and tie=die/marbling design.
Sonali Gupta
We first set eyes on Sonali Gupta’s attire in the first edition of the Aashni + Co Wedding Show and since then we get excited every year to see her collection! The bold colours of red, yellow and blue, the embroidery and embellishment of her latest designs just left us in awe!
Rimple and Harpreet Narula
As you may have Rimple and Harpreet Narula are the official costume designers for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming saga, Padmavati. Here is what Rimple from the talented duo had to share with us…
Aashni Anshul Doshi, founder and creative director of Aashni + Co said “It has been a spectacular show, surpassing even last year’s, and I thank our incredible designers. We had a great response from attendees who had the chance to see a bridal outfit to make their special day even more memorable. What’s more, the experience was enhanced further by the creative support of the award-winning floral artist and design consultant Zita Elze – Zita is an integral part of the show and my extension. I think the best part about this event is that it allows people to meet the designers behind their wedding outfits and if they wish to have a bespoke creation. Our show makes that possible and demonstrates that you don’t have to travel to India for the right designer outfit.”
If you missed the show and like what you see, you can catch these collections at Aashni + Co’s a beautiful concept store in the heart of London’s Notting Hill or shop directly online.
